Cardiac impulse in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.

چکیده
A double apical impulse has been described as a physical sign in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (Mounsey, 1959; Braunwald et al., 1960; Boiteau and Allenstein, 1961; Pare et al., 1961; Benchimol, Legler, and Dimond, 1963; Cohen et al., 1964; Gillam, Deliyannis, and Mounsey, 1964; Tafur, Cohen, and Levine, 1964). In this study we have used the impulse cardiogram, which is an optical record of what the hand feels, to determine more exactly the nature of these abnormalities of the cardiac impulse. Our object has been to assess the clinical significance of the different forms of cardiac impulse in this disease, relating them to the underlying heemodynamic disturbances.

Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in a Case with Chest Pain and Family History of Sudden Cardiac Death: A Case Report
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common genetic cardiovascular disease, which is caused by a multitude of mutations in genes encoding proteins of the cardiac sarcomere (1). Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is an uncommon type of HCM. The sudden cardiac death is less likely to occur in the patients inflicted with AHCM (2). Herein, we presented the case of a 29-year-old man ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Polymorphisms in Non-Coding Region of Human Mitochondrial DNA in 31 Iranian Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Patients
The D-loop region is a hot spot for mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) alterations, containing two hypervariable segments, HVS-I and HVS-II. In order to identify polymorphic sites and potential genetic background accounting for Hypertrophic CardioMyopathy (HCM) disease, the complete non-coding region of mtDNA from 31 unrelated HCM patients and 45 normal controls were sequenced. The sequences were aligne...
متن کاملAcute valvular insufficiency complicating hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
This report describes a patient with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy complicated by acute aortic and probably mitral valvular incompetence caused by endocarditis due to Staphylococcus aureus. Following the onset of valvular insufficiency, this patient developed hypotension and pulmonary edema and eventually underwent cardiac surgery in an attempt to control these complications. We revie...
متن کاملHaemodynamic findings in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: pulsus bisferiens and Brockenbrough-Braunwald-Morrow sign.
: A 55-year-old gentleman with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy and heart failure symptoms underwent cardiac catheterization, which confirmed a significant pressure drop (60 mmHg) across the left ventricular outflow tract, a double-peaked pulse (pulsus bisferiens) and an absent postextrasystolic potentiation (Brockenbrough-Braunwald-Morrow sign) in the left ventricular outflow tract and ...

Therefore, alleviating sympathetic stimulation such as avoiding tachycardia,...
